This year for Christmas we organised a Christmas gathering. The students performed one short play in Macedonian and one in English. A group of students sang some traditional Christmas carols in both languages and the parents contributed to the event by providing home made food. The guest of honour was the British ambassador to Macedonia Charles Edmund Garrett with his family.

SCHOOL BAZAAR - Learning can be fun!
In the fifth grade I use the book Welcome 2. My students and I got inspired to make our own School Bazaar after doing Unit 5. The difference is that we didn't sell the food, but we all ate it together. The parents of the students prepared it all after we did the research and found all the recipes. The bazaar was on American and British food followed up by some nice games and activities. We invited some of the other teachers to be our guests and take part in this event. My colleagues were required to play the games and use their English:) I always like when students see how other teachers use English, and how important it is to know another language.
You might think that we had a lot of unhealthy food but I promise that it was only this one time.
The games that we did:
1. Pin the tail on the donkey.
2. A ring toss game
3. Close your eyes, touch the animal toy and name the animal
4. Guess how many beans are there in the jar.
5. Dart

Easter egg hunt - Learning can be fun!
Another holiday that we like learning about and celebrating
is Easter- guessing why? Because of the Easter egg hunt of course:)
My colleague and I decided to dress the students as bunnies,
do a proper make up, hide the chocolate eggs in the school yard and may the egg
hunt begin:)
CHRISTMAS BRUNCH- crafts display and food - Learning can be fun!
My opinion is that learning a language does not only focus on vocabulary and grammar of a certain language but also learning about a different culture, customs, holidays and habits. That’s why I try to present this and cherish this as much as I can with my students. This is how we learn about Christmas.
Christmas is the time of year where good will and joy are all around us. Last year we decided to organize a Christmas Brunch. The whole event was organized in the way that we had a Christmas crafts display in the hall of the school, a group of Carolers performing traditional English and Macedonian songs, as well as some traditional American/ British and Macedonian Christmas dishes.
This is just a glimpse of all the crafts and decorations the students prepared. The delicious food was prepared by the students’ parents. We did a research on the traditional dishes, gave them the recipes and voila:)

This is how my students performed the carols. My colleague and I made the costumes out of different kinds of paper. It took some time and effort but it was worth it!
Drama in the classroom - Learning can be fun!
I personally think that drama can help students learn a language easily. I did this with my students last year. I got inspired by the storybook The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. I don't know if you've heard of it but it's a very interesting story. I adapted it a bit and we prepared a lovely play, with music, costumes and all. I hope you enjoy the video.
Bare in mind that the students who act in the play are age 8-10, and English is their second language.
